Decorative artist Tess Newall and furniture maker Alfred Newall introduce Botanica Mirror, a celebration of the crafts integral to their work and the landscape which surrounds their East Sussex workshops.

Botanical studies of native wildflowers have been handpainted onto individual sheets of parchment paper, inspired by the bedroom walls of 18th century Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus in Hammarby, Sweden. The piece includes forget-me-not, harebell, clover, daisy, red campion and milkwort.

The mirror surround is solid mahogany, and the beading which frames the artworks is inspired by Arts and Crafts joinery. The artworks are printed onto non-woven paper using high quality pigment inks. The studies have been applied to the the handcrafted mahogany frame using a traditional decoupage technique.

The mirror will be prepared for hanging both Portrait and Landscape. Please note that this piece will be made to order with a lead time of 16-18 weeks.

Each mirror comes prepared Portrait or Landscape, fitted with a cord picture-hanging fixture and secured with brass d-rings.

Production

Each mirror is handmade from solid mahogany wood with mahogany beading. Parchment paper printed with high quality ink is applied to the frame, two coats of water based varnish add durability to the botanical prints.

Due to the hand-made nature of this product, each piece is unique. Please be aware that there are slight variations between each item, and that these are integral to the character of the product.
