PRIVATE WORKSHOPS

Tess hosts private workshops and event activations for brands and interior design groups, creating a painting concept tailored to your event. They are a wonderful way for guests and fellow creatives to engage with brands, and with one another.

Past events include decorating enamel lanterns for Longchamp, leading a candlestick painting workshop for House & Garden, and teaching guests how to paint a mural at the launch of Templeton Garden in London. Venues have included Thyme, Covent Garden Hotel and Charleston Farmhouse, and in-store events for Anthropologie and Matilda Goad.

Longchamp

Guests of the brand were hosted for a creative retreat at The Gallivant in Rye. Over the weekend, guests enjoyed beach walks, sea swims, poetry recitals and a painting workshop with Tess, decorating enamel camping lanterns in the Summer House. Guests were given sketches to plan their design on, and were then guided in painting their keepsake lantern to take home with them.

Matilda Goad

To celebrate the launch of our collaboration, Tess handpainted MG&Co's Cloth Scallop Lampshades over two days instore in The Tay Building in Kensal Rise, giving customers the opportunity to watch the process and take home their lampshades with them. The delicate motifs included clovers, cherries, stars and meadow flowers.

House & Garden

Members of The Calico Club visited Tess and Alfred's studios for a behind-the-scenes tour of their creative process. Guests were given lunch in Tess and Alfred's garden at the foothill of the South Downs, followed by a painting workshop in the garden. Tess guided guests in decorating Bobbin Candlesticks made by Alfred, to take home with them.

Charleston Farmhouse

Interior designers gathered at Charleston Farmhouse, the East Sussex home of the Bloomsbury Group (and a stone's throw from Tess's own studio) for a day of inspiration. The day began with a tour of the house and garden, looking at Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell's decorative interiors, before a lampshade painting workshop with Tess in the Ox Barn. Each designer went home with a unique artwork inspired by Charleston.

Anthropologie

Guests of the brand joined Tess at their flagship Regent Street store to celebrate the launch of their Seen Worn Kept sustainable denim collection. Inspired by Tess's collection of botanical paintings, she guided the group in handpainting motifs onto their own pairs of jeans to give them new life and create something beautifully unique.

Kin House

Design enthusiasts gathered at the private-hire Kin House in the Wiltshire countryside for the first Kin Creates workshop, an intimate lampshade painting workshop hosted by Tess. Tess guided the group in designing and painting their own lampshades, in the inspiring setting of the Barlow & Barlow designed property. Guests were encouraged to bring along fabric swatches from their room scheme to ensure that their lampshade would sit well within their interiors project.
