HOW WE WORK
Our studio is renowned for marrying highly skilled artistry with a recognisable design signature. Tess is supported by a dedicated team of project managers, designers and artists in her studio, and we pride ourselves in working collaboratively with our clients to bring a creative idea to life. We provide a full studio service working from concept to execution.

CONCEPT
Each project begins with an exploration and exchange of ideas, in order to understand the feeling you wish to create. Any initial references you may have will help us in this process. If the project feels well suited to our studio, we collate additional reference imagery for discussion. Feedback on this will help to guide a design path and allow us to give an estimate for your project. Enquiries should include site imagery and technical drawings.

DESIGN
Following approval of a quote, we usually carry out a site visit as the space inevitably informs the design. We often incorporate elements from the home and surrounding garden, weaving together threads of inspiration to create a design personal to your project. We create a digital render to show our proposed design in your space, welcoming feedback on scale and density of the design. Following approval of this mock-up, we paint sample boards to agree upon the painting style, brushwork and colour palette, which can be viewed on site alongside the fabrics and furnishings of the room. Our sample boards are an invaluable part of our process, and we refer to them closely when painting the final piece.

EXECUTION
Every project uses highly skilled artistry and a meticulous attention to detail to bring the design to life. We will usually be on site towards the end of your project, just before the installation of soft furnishings. While the execution is a culmination of weeks of planning, painting is an organic process, and design elements may be added or taken away as feels right during the evolution of the decoration. We use water-based paints and pigments, employing traditional techniques and methods of decoration. We usually seal our work with a decorators’ lacquer, to the finish or patination required. We take pride in every project that we do.
