THYME Estate

These panels, created for the Modern Muralists exhibition, are available for purchase and will be on display until September 2026 in the Tithe Barn at Thyme in Lechlade, England.

Curated by Emily Hill of the Charleston Trust, this exhibition showcases site-specific works and studies by contemporary decorative artists Tess Newall, Lucinda Oakes, and Melissa White.

The works created are in response to the surroundings of the Thyme Estate, with their water meadows, woodlands and kitchen garden providing the inspiration for our mural panels. Bamboo garden canes tied with twine provide structure for the flowers and a nod to the English country house tradition of 'faux' panelling.

'Kitchen Garden' features edible flowers and herbs found in the estate's gardens, including nasturtium, rosemary, crabapple and sage.

'Climbing Meadow’ features wildflowers found on the estate, including buttercups, clover and red campion.
