SOUTH KENSINGTON MEWS
Decoration of the study and guest bedroom of an 1850s mews house. Our brief was to add handpainted detailing with a sensitivity to the historical character of the building. The study decoration references a shield motif on the fireplace, rendered in a trompe l'oeil style. The bedroom border is inspired by detailing found on joinery in Tureholm Castle in Sweden, and sits above a bedhead designed to a pediment form. The borders work to bring balance and classical elements to the rooms, adding to the historic atmosphere of the place.
