FRAMPTON COURT

Decoration of the octagonal ceiling of The Orangery of Frampton Court, inspired by the botanical artworks which were painted there by Elizabeth, Charlotte and Catherine Clifford in 1828-1851. Their studies of local wildflowers, known as the 'Frampton Flora', were discovered in the attic of Frampton Court over a century after they were painted. They provide a record of the richness of the English countryside in the early 19th century. Our brief was to draw inspiration from these studies, alongside the flowers which still grow around The Orangery. We created a loose garland of flowers sentimental to the Clifford family, including rare orchids, hawthorn, snowdrops and forget-me-nots.
