Join Tess for a unique decorative painting workshop, hosted close to her home and studio near Lewes in East Sussex.

We are inviting guests to select an item of their choice to decorate, including bobbin lamps, candlesticks and mirror frames made by Alfred Newall. 

Our workshops are held in a traditional flint barn in the heart of the South Downs. Surrounded by beautiful Sussex downland and looking out over a rose garden, the studio provides plenty of inspiration for decorative painting.

Hosted by Sussex friends Field Food, workshop guests will be treated to delicious food throughout the day, including a locally sourced seasonal feast for lunch.

Our workshop will run from 10am till 4pm, during which Tess will lead guests through a decorative painting project of your choice. Tess will outline the process and introduce techniques before guiding guests in sketching out their designs, practicing motifs and painting a piece to take home and treasure.

Course Details

Timings: Our workshops begin at 10am and finish at 4pm

Location: Our rural venue can be reached by car, a short taxi ride from Lewes train station, or a beautiful riverside walk from Southease station.

16cm base diameter, 42.5cm height (to top of light fitting), made from hand-turned solid oak

Alfred Newall Mirror Frame:

40cm x 50cm, made from solid beech
